POINT OF VIEW
Born in 1973 in Mavulah, in the Republic of Congo, Gastineau Massamba trained at the Tsiémé School of Fine Arts in Brazzaville. Painter, sculptor and poet, he lives and works in Montreuil.
Gastineau Massamba questions human bodies in their plurality and theatricality. His works do not tell stories, they express themselves with total freedom. The artist avoids all forms of decoration and paints in oil and acrylic, without preparatory drawing. He sculpts the material, movement and energies of the paint with his fingers.

Painter of flesh, bodies, absurdity and the human condition, Gastineau creates with gestures of touches, a poetry pushing the viewer on a silent journey.
Gastineau Massamba's works have been presented at the Dak'Art Biennale (Senegal), at the Casablanca International Biennale (Morocco), as well as in the Kunsthalle de Krems (Austria) and Palais de Chaillot (Paris) museums. His work has been included in the collections of the Blachère Foundation (France) and the Benetton Foundation (France).
